Digging Deeper:
The verses from the new testament use patience to translate 2 different words, Hupomonē and Makrothumeō:

Here is what Strong’s Concordance says about these 2
Hupomonē - cheerful (or hopeful) endurance, constancy: - enduring, patience, patient continuance (waiting).
Makrothumeō - to be long spirited, that is, (objectively) forbearing or (subjectively) patient: - bear (suffer) long, be long-suffering, have (long) patience, be patient, patiently endure.

Here is what Thayer’s Dictionary says about the two:
Makrothumeō
6. to be of a long spirit, not to lose heart
a) to persevere patiently and bravely in enduring misfortunes and troubles
b) to be patient in bearing the offenses and injuries of others
c)  to be mild and slow in avenging
d)  to be long-suffering, slow to anger, slow to punish

Hupomonē
7. steadfastness, constancy, endurance
a) in the NT the characteristic of a man who is not swerved from his deliberate purpose and his loyalty to faith and piety by even the greatest trials and sufferings
b) patiently, and steadfastly
8. a patient, steadfast waiting for
9. a patient enduring, sustaining, perseverance

How would you describe the difference between the two words? How are they the same aspects of a larger whole?
